We didn’t really dine in but we just went for some pastries and they were really good. I am a baker myself but I was quite impressed with the delicious chocolate macaroons, the morning glory cupcake and the blondies! Got the chocolate chip cookie but we still have to try it.

The Double D burger with their bacon jam was probably the best burger I've ever had! Fresh, juicy, hot, and a wonderful taste! We went back the next day for breakfast with was just as good. Very happy we decided to stop in for a bite. If we ever head back this way again we will definitely stop in!

What a delicious stop for a late lunch on our Cabot trail journey! We went here later on in the afternoon in mid-Sept and we were the only guests here for a while. Their bakery display were sold out of many options (as expected this late in the day), but after reading previous reviews on the cookies, we swooped up the last remaining 4 cookies and they were as good as I had hoped! Chewy, soft, full of flavour, and basically to die for. Definitely grab a few more than you think you’d eat! Their meringue pie was also very delicious.Off their lunch menu, we ordered the snow crab sandwich on porridge bread (highly recommend trying the porridge bread!!), seafood chowder and fish & chips (not pictured). Everything was extremely tasty and the service was great. Not to mention their patio view is pure tranquility. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Stopped for breakfast at the clucking hen! Staff were super friendly. Food was reasonably priced, came fast, and delicious! They also have espresso drinks which is always a plus they also have baked goods to go!

Super nice staff here, good people. I had the lobster club house sandwich and it was great, fries are homemade and awesome too. Relaxed, chill place, with super nice view of the ocean. Very nice!

Simple menu which is always appreciated. I ordered the “soup of the day” which was leek and potato and it was excellent. I also ordered a lobster roll which was very fresh. My partner ordered the fish and chips which he enjoyed, especially their homemade tartar. The waitress took the time to help us with our map and planning the rest of our day. Food came out really fast! We sat outside and had a nice view. The selection of baked goods inside looked delicious too. Overall great experience.

Love supporting local and the clucking hen is as local as it gets in Cape Breton. We had the lobster roll which was overflowing with lobster (22) and the 2 piece fish & chips was great with perfectly done fries (18). Also, don’t forget the fresh homemade bakery items - we had the butter tart and blondie.

Unexpected gem along the Cabot trail. I had a wonderful butter pecan tart and carrot/coconut type muffin. They also had a variety of pastries, muffins, and cookies. Coffee and other beverages available. They have both indoor and outdoor seating.I believe they close pretty early and seasonally so call ahead. This would be a highly recommended stop along Cabot Trail.
